  1.          There are 4 themes: Archaeology, Senses of Place, Ancient Ecosystems, and Life Histories.
  2.          Archaeology: The first task is to find a piece of fired clay.  Fired clay (near fire) leads to Goddess Figurine (pic on an object).  Finding the Goddess figurine leads to flake points (pic).   Flake points lead to beads.  After getting beads the hunter finishes the course.
  3.          Senses of Place:  The first task is to find the "forked path."  After the forked path (bewteen the mounds) the next space is a place where the dead are buried.  This is within building 3, inside the BACH tent.  The next task is to find a place along the river that would represent the importance of the river Charshamba.  Finally, hunters will be challenged to find an ancient street.  This will be a space between buildings.  End of course.
  4.           Ancient Ecosystems: The first task here is to find where the Neolithic people grew their cereal type crops.  (Noah help me place some)  The next would be to find a domesticated animal (the goat).  The next will be a picture of preserved food items, maybe ground stones (in the museum?).  The last task will have to do with frogs, and the goal will be to find a specific frog ribbeting.  (maybe)
  5.           Life Histories.  First task sends the scavenger after one of the famous wall paintings.  I will put a wall painting up somewhere in one of the houses.  Next there will be the investigation of a double burial, and how these individuals' lives have been interpreted.  Need two more items here.  Will follow the 'Life Histories' section of the website.

* Signs (Laurie)

Video

* Noah will change video options in museum

Promotion

* Write introduction to using Second Life for curious visitors who are unfamiliar with Second Life. (Noah)

* Send announcements to: SLED Second Life Educator Listserv (Noah), Data Services Blog (Noah), Chronicle (Noah), Second Life Events listing (Noah), Catalhoyuk email list/facebook (Ruth), friends/family(All)

Notes from 11/7 Meeting

Noah: Installed Metalab whiteboard for graffiti cube. Implementing video walk. New announcement board using rss feed from okapiisland.pbwiki.com. Created public sandbox area.

Daniel: Working on a script that can play local audio, embed streaming audio onto object.  The River is coming. Working on video walk. Moving the museum.

Casondra: Film about leopards spots. Ready to help with video. Has thursdays and fridays free.

Laurie:  Working on signs. Adding teleporting capabilities. Problem with uploading. Maybe file size too big?

Scott: Just completed google earth zoom video to orient people. Have QTVR coordinates. How to import QTVR? Lets try it. Next week, come up with a list of ideas for scavenger hunt and others can help implement. Need to figure out how to do private messages.

Ahmed: Still working on Sloodle. Can't display HTML or blog entry in Second Life. Will research Mozilla brower in second life. Has ideas about organizing objects in a museum.

Lizzy: Making signs. Different Scales, Public Face, Life Histories at BACH tent.  Put a handful of images and link to website. Notecards for the captions.

Marc: Finished up global audio. Have music jukebox, playlist. Working on regional audio.

in Second Life." with support from Daniel, Scott, Lizzy, Noah. Ruth will show PowerPoint and use voice chat with avatar.

Need to think of competition for Sandbox.

Video Festival from 4pm to 5pm. Need to get Anies video. Colleen will host. Each person (lizzy, ruth, colleen, cassondra, liz will narrate their videos)

11/5 Updates (Noah):

I created a sandbox area for public to build their own reconstructions. I also found a great tool (metalab interactive whiteboard) for the grafitti wall (or cube). Check it out! You can drag your own content from your own inventory. I also think this tool will be great for featuring collections of content. I put some of stanford's image collections in the ones near  the  South area reconstructions.  When ready, I'll put these inside the reconstructed houses. Feel free to make copies of the white board and use as you see fit.

Lizzy writes:

  • Museum should be where strangers teleport/ land.
  • There, there should be a map of the island with a key. 'You are here'
  • Another sign next to it with a brief history of the site.
  • Somewhere near the museum should be a picture of Mellart and a brief history of who he is, as well as a picture of Hodder and team picture. Maybe pictures of famous finds (painting, figurines, etc) with blurb?
  • Two smaller signs. Possibly shaped like and arrow! One saying Reconstruction Area and the other saying "BACH Area"
  • There should be a path leading to Reconstruction Area and BACh Area. At some some point, a fork perhaps, theses two signs should appear again pointing in respective directions. These signs will give a notecard explaining what each place is. Person can choose, from there, where to go
  • Two signs should have a 'teleport back to museum' so person will always have option to go back.
  • Free boxe along paths?
  • Lizzy will find captions to use.
